#MotivationalWisdom Straight-Talk Episode – The Defining Moment
“There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword. But the tongue of the wise promotes health. The truthful lip shall be established forever. But a lying tongue is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:18-19)
Today, I am going to start with this quote the Lord gave to me, “The dynamics of a defining moment-of-time of truth or lie in persuasion is a blindness until distinction of one’s character unveils infinite in time.” Just reflect on this for a moment. Now, this perspective draws on the persuasion theory evaluating people, influence, attitudes, emotions, behaviors, and choices in communications, actions, and social judgments.
Let’s Define Persuasion: Persuasion is a fundamental aspect of social psychology that involves influencing individuals on a personal and mass levels, playing a crucial role in various domains such as relationships, business, politics, and religion.
Let’s Stop to Reflect on Another Scripture: “Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him. “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.” (Luke 4:5-6, 8)
Within the depth of the context there is a communication dialogue happening between Jesus and the Devil. The Devil worked in acts and communication to persuade the Son of God to worship and bow down before him under his power of the world. In this context of “The Defining Moment” of time, we find Jesus was tempted by the Devil for forty days and nights while fasting and in prayer in the wilderness to give up His position, power of God, and purpose as the Son of God. Jesus made His distinction, choice, and concluded in communication and the power of God. “Get behind Me, Satan!”
Likewise, in Proverbs 12:18-19, King Solomon, in wisdom, talks of one like the Devil, using persuasion in acts, communication and power of the world, and one like Jesus, using persuasion in acts, communications, and power of God to promote health, truth, and life. All in a moment-of-time.
Let’s Stop to Digest
“The Defining Moment” comes forth in an appointed time, to test, reveal, and distinguish oneself, group of people, or things in a moment-of-time in the dynamics of actions and communications, taking a stance.
Now, let us further break down this perspective of “Persuasion Theory” in the practical on how we shape opinions in a defining moment-of-time. Dealing with Core Concept and Model of Aristotle’s Rhetorical Appeals: The Foundation of persuasion, focuses on: 1) Ethos: Speaker's credibility and character; 2) Pathos: Emotional connection with the audience; and 3) Logos: The logical structure and evidence of the argument. Three Types of Main Goals: 1) Response Shaping: Developing a new attitude or behavior; 2) Response Changing: Altering an existing one; and 3) Response Reinforcing: Strengthening a current belief or behavior.
Within this process of persuasion in “The Defining Moment” one must be careful and wise because in this approach there is both a negative outcome or a positive outcome depending on the dynamics and distinction strategies to produce a healthy life cycle or cycle of decline or decline in life. Metaphorically, an unhealthy or decline in life cycle, portrays that of LICE, insects that live on people, feeding on blood, causing intense itching, irritability, and infestation, spread by close contact. In this channel of moment-of-time, do not lose your identity, integrity, position, and purpose through the testing process in the defining moment.
Let’s Stop to Digest
“The Defining Moment” dynamics must produce a positive transforming strategy in actions and communications with distinction in a point in time. Let us further break down the concept dynamics.
“The” denotes one or more people or things already mentioned; used to point forward to a following qualifying or defining clause or phrase used as a function word before a noun denoting “time” to indicate reference to what is present or immediate or is under consideration. Question: What is present or immediate or under consideration?
“Defining” transitive verb to determine or identify the essential qualities or meaning to discover or set forth the meaning of something. To fix or mark the limits. To make distinct, clear, or detailed; and to characterize or distinguish. Question: What is defined to fix or mark limits, and to distinguish?
“Moment-of-time” signifies a brief, often significant or specific point within the flow of time, emphasizing its singularity, like an instant or a short, indefinite period (a minute, a second, or just "a little while"), highlighting a key event or a present situation. A turning point in time. Time is infinite, continuously moving in the unseen and seen dynamics, hereby, time cannot be touched, but what happens in time brings forth the evidence of time.
Life Lessons to Remember
Reflect and Perspective: Let us discuss the four transforming “P’s” life lessons in reflection of 2025 and perspective of 2026.
Life Lessons to Remember:
PARADOX - The paradox of truth or lie in a “moment-of-time” marks characterization and limits of oneself, group, or things in the surrounding environments and global environments worldwide.
POWER - The power of the truth presented exposes the lie in a moment-of-time. There is the power of the Devil's reliance on lies and deception on the world controlled by humans and the power of God's reliance on the truth and life, Divine power not controlled by humans. The power of a moment-of-time is distinguished by the choices an individual makes in the moment presented in time. The power of moment-of-time brings forth private motives into visible realms, and public platforms of spectacle. And the power of the moment-of-time gives a chance, change, and trajectory to transition into the truth by design and choice.
PERSUASION - Persuasion suggests belief grounded in acts, process, and instances of persuading in a moment-of-time. Persuasion works in a paradox in a moment-of-time of truth or lie. And persuasion psychological dynamics can produce a negative or positive outcome in the cycle of life based on the power dynamics infinite in time.
PERORATION - The peroration of a moment-of-time establishes the conclusion of a moment-of-time, defined by the purpose in the turning point in time. Peroration defines one or more people or things in the stance or objective through communication and speech. “The Defining Moment” concludes with peroration and power, distinguishing and impacting oneself, other people, and all things.
What advice from this life lesson might I give as a personal reflection and experience ending 2025? Know the “moment-of-time” dynamics in paradox, persuasion, power, and peroration. When presented with “The Defining Moment” of truth, lie, good health, life or death, make the right distinction through positive transforming reinforcement strategies. Know “The Defining Moments” in 2025, affecting and effecting elements of the personal, spiritual, and global environments, unveiled. Likewise, presenting in 2026, defining moment-of-time will test, reveal, expose, and conclude in public platforms, making distinction, characterization, stance, and impact based on the right or wrong choice. Beware, careful, and watchful, knowing your value and worth, making the right choice, and trajectory if needed, to promote a healthy life, cycle, purpose, and impact. Change your environment if needed! Change your climate if needed! Change your culture if needed! Concluding, “What is man, that You should exalt him. That You should set Your heart on him. That You should visit him every morning, and test him every moment” (Job 7:17-18).
